NYSPAC supported Gender Pay Gap legislation for the 18/19 Advocacy Year. Commonly referred to as the Salary History Ban, this legislation would prevent an employer from asking a potential employee to provide an accounting of their previous salary histories to determine their offer of pay. The common practice of asking for a salary history, perpetuates discrimination against women, who historically have earned less than their white male counterparts throughout their careers. This bill passed at the end of the 2019 legislative session
